Where to bury

The Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Cemetery Complex is the only cemetery in Singapore open for burials.

Operating hours

  • Mondays to Sundays: 8:30am to 4:30pm

  • Closed for lunch from 1pm to 2pm

Please note that the burial period for all graves is limited to 15 years. At the end of 15 years, the graves will be exhumed.

  • If burial is required due to religious reasons, the exhumed remains will be re-buried in smaller individual plots.

  • For those whose religions allow cremation, the exhumed remains will be cremated and stored in columbaria niches.

Foreigners can only be buried in Singapore if the deceased has immediate family members who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents.

Booking a burial slot

You’ll need to apply for a Permit to Bury Body from the National Environment Agency (NEA) before making a booking for burial. You should only submit one application—contact the service counter at Mandai Crematorium directly to make changes or cancel the approved permit.

Things to bring for verification

  • The deceased’s death certificate* (either the digital PDF or a printed copy)

  • The deceased’s NRIC or passport

  • Permit to Bury

  • The applicant’s NRIC or passport

  • Letter of Authorisation if the applicant is not the deceased’s next-of-kin

*If unavailable, you may provide the manual confirmation of death (mCOD)

Changes to the booking

There may be changes in your situation after a confirmed booking for burial at CCK Cemetery. You may decide to:

  • change the date of the booking

  • change the time of the booking

  • cancel the booking

All changes or cancellations to confirmed bookings for burial must be made in person at the CCK Cemetery service counter. You’ll have to bring along all the required documents to make the change.
