Retrenchment benefits and measures

Retrenchment is a form of dismissal from your job. It happens when companies need to reduce their workforce due to redundancy, reorganisation or changes in the industry.

If you’re facing retrenchment, you might be eligible for certain things, including:

  • a notice period

  • retrenchment benefits

  • alternatives to retrenchment

  • help in finding a new job

Companies with ten or more employees must notify the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) of retrenchments within 5 working days, after they notify their employees.
