The Baby Bonus Scheme is part of the Marriage and Parenthood Package. It provides parents with financial support through the Child Development Account (CDA) benefits and Baby Bonus Cash Gift.
Child Development Account (CDA)
After your child is enrolled into the Baby Bonus Scheme, you’ll need to open a CDA with your selected bank (POSB/DBS, OCBC, or UOB). You can only use CDA funds for approved child-related expenses. It’s a special co-savings account which will receive:
- CDA First Step Grant: one-off amount automatically deposited into the CDA without you having to save first
- Government co-matching: an extra dollar for every dollar that you deposit into the CDA,
up to the cap your child is eligible for.
Child Savings Account (CSA)
The CSA will be automatically opened when the CDA is opened for your child. The CSA is a joint-savings account that allows you to conveniently receive:
- Baby Bonus Cash Gift: payment deposited every 6 months until the child is 6.5 years old
- Education bursaries, grants, or awards
- Financial assistance
- Excess CDA balance above the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) cap, if applicable
