The Baby Bonus Scheme is a Government Scheme administered by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) to help parents manage the costs of raising children. It comprises a cash gift and Government contributions into the Child Development Account (CDA), which will be opened for your child.
The CDA is a special bank account where the Government will co-match every dollar that you save into the CDA (up to a cap). For example, if you deposit $10 into your child’s CDA, the Government will co-match this by depositing another $10 into the account. Once your child’s CDA is opened, you’ll also automatically receive a CDA First Step Grant of up to $10,000* from the Government within 2 weeks (excluding public holidays).
This can benefit your child as you can use the CDA for expenses such as preschool fees, medical bills, and more, at Approved Institutions (AIs).
Apart from the CDA, a Child Savings Account (CSA) will also be opened for your child. The cash gift will be paid into the CSA.
